HDR OR FLASH AMBIENT BLENDING FOR BEST INTERIOR IMAGES?
HDR OR FLASH AMBIENT BLENDING FOR PROPERTY INTERIORS HAS BEEN A CREATIVE CHOICE AMONG REAL ESTATE PHOTOGRAPHY FOR QUITE SOME TIME. WHATS THE DIFFERENCE? HDR TAKES THE SAME PHOTO MULTIPLE TIMES, CAPTURING DIFFERENT EXPOSURES FROM THE DEEPEST SHADOWS TO THE BRIGHTEST HIGHLIGHTS, THEN COMBINES THEM ALL IN THE EDITING ROOM TO CREATE ONE PHOTO THAT ISNT BLOWN OUT OR TOO DARK. FLASH AMBIENT BLENDING (FLAMBIENT) TAKES A NORMAL EXPOSED PHOTOGRAPH, AND ANOTHER PHOTOGRAPH WITH THE SAME FRAME THAT HAS BEEN PROPERLY FLASHED TO OVERPOWER THE EXISTING AMBIENT LIGHTING IN THE ROOM TO ACHIEVE THE BEST AND TRUEST COLORS POSSIBLE. I AM OF THE OPINION THAT FLAMBIENT IS THE BEST WAY TO SHOW AN INTERIOR SPACE, FOR ACCURATE COLOR AND TONE................BUT......... I ALSO FIND MYSELF DRAWN TO IMAGES WITH GREAT COLOR CONTRAST. I LOVE THE BLUES OF DAYLIGHT AND THE WARMTH OF INTERIOR TUNGSTEN LIGHTING, OR ACCENT LIGHTING. THE BEAUTY OF THE HDR PROCESS IS THAT IT KEEPS ALL THOSE DIFFERENT LIGHT SOURCES. YES, ITS TRUE THAT THE BLUE LIGHT COMING IN FROM THE WINDOWS CAN WASH OUT THE TRUE COLORS OF THE WALLS AND ROOM,.... BUT IS THAT A BAD THING..
